Default Not finding pound sterling, british pound sign, uk currency symbol on keyboard !

British Pound sign - £ also known as GBP - Great Britain Pound, Pound Sterling

Do you always copy or cut paste £ sign?

Now, you will not have to do it again. Just remember this simple and useful shortcut. In notepad or text area, hold down the Alt key while you type 0163 from the numeric keypad (not the numbers given in one single row under function keys) and when you release the Alternate [alt] key you will get a £ sign wherever the cursor is at.

Wow, Those are really very good keyboard shortcuts for those who regularly send billing related emails. I was only aware of the £ symbol shortcut till now but now I have some more added from this thread.

Thanks for all them sanderson - will definitely find they useful. The £ has never been trouble for me though - I always press Shift and 3 at the same time and it does it on my keyboard - but stuff like the copyright and trademark ones I am always finding it hard to insert and have to copy and paste like you said.

Hey David,
You must have set the input language to English[UK]. But for most of the users it is International English [US by default]. With these default settings, they get...

shift+3 = #

Shift+4 = $

It's great to know that you found other keys useful. I forgot to mention [edited] that these signs are typed using [US] international input language/keyboard.

Thanks for your input.

Yeh, I have the UK QWERTY keyboard setting here, so adding a £ sign is not a problem.

DPS Computing, I hope you don't push Alt + 0169 to get a copyright symbol in your webpages, you should just at © in your pages instead - but if it's for documents or other things I can completely understand.

what if you put "Alt + 0169" directly on the website hosting and ask Visitors to find out its meaning from their keyboard ?

One who will copy your content will copy "Alt + 0169" as well
