Default email filters question

Hi,
I have a shared hosting package (linux) with multiple domains and multiple mailboxes. I want to set up individual e-mail filters on a per-mailbox basis. The filters I've seen so far in cpanel look like they are package wide. How can I do this? With my previous host, I was able to set-up rule based files on a per-mailbox basis, and I want to transfer this function to my space here.

Thanks,

Vickie

Cpanel has no such filters for individual mailboxes. You will need to configure filter settings for the complete account.

You should be able to figure out something for this as none of our existing customers demanded any such feature so far.

I'm flattered that you are so confident that I "should be able to figure something out" because if it was that simple for me, I wouldn't have tried this forum for support.

I have to admit to being shocked at your rudeness and condescension. I hope your reply to me is not a shining example of the excellent support you say is a characteristic of Eukhost.

You are requesting something which isn't a part of our services nor it is available with the 3 different control panels that we use.

I am not sure what control panel or software your previous company was using but we don't use that.

I was never rude in my previous reply as I requested you to figure out something in place of individual mailbox filtering coz there's no way we can have that thing setup on cpanel servers.

We use cpanel as thats the best as well as secure control panel and there's no way we can use any other control panel for 1 additional feature.

Please accept my apologies if you felt that it was rude reply. I would never do so as our existence and growth has been due to happy customers and we never like any situation where we need to deal with angry customers.

Thank you, I am greatly reassured by your apology.

I was asking, I suppose for some Unix tuition/Handholding. Because I had that function before, I assumed it must be a matter of uploading a file to some specific location with regexp rules in it. Can you help guide me here? I am a programmer but unfamiliar with unix and unix networking. I have seen something on the internet about Exim mail transfer agent and it's interface to mail filtering. This page
www. exim.org/exim-html-3.30/doc/html/filter_27.html#SEC27
looks relevant. It says something about multiple .forward files. I think this is what I would need to do, do you know anything about this?

And I noticed in the cpanel documentation there was something called 'boxtrapper' but it doesn't seem to be an option in cpanel.

Boxtrapper is completely different from filtering function. Boxtrapper is a buggy software which creates problems for customer who have no knowledge of what it is.

When you enable boxtrapper for your account it will reply back to senders saying that if you are a human then reply back to this message as it is. It makes things inconvenient for customers and sometimes you loose important emails due to this setting.

Let me know the IP address of the server on which you are hosted and I will enable boxtrapper for you. For your information I would like to mention that we have our custom spam protection scripts configured on all our servers and you can start a new thread to ask our customers how many spams do they get per day.

Thanks, it sounds like boxtrapper is not the right thing for me. I will look into this exim thing and try to form a better question for you about the per-mailbox filters. Too tired tonight.
