I updated yesterday - I have it set to update automatically.
I didn't notice any critical flaws in it but thank god it has updated then - I like safe software!

Update Automatically ? Thatll get you into trouble lol. I usually reccomend that people wait a week before updating to the latest patches on any progs. Though I realise youre are no one of "the people" i tell this because you actually know about computers.

The reason I update automatically is due to security - hence the reason I have automatic updates for Windows as well.
If an update causes me that much problems I simply remove it or work a way around it.

I know what you mean paul - Firefox is a good example of well done and tested software so normally there are no problems with things like crashes. And on the odd occassion Firefox has crashed on me it has restarted seamlessly so I can forgive it!

Ive never had a problem with Firefox either. But if you visit their forums youll see they do. Alot of the mods there tell people to turn off auto updates and wait a week or so before they update to teh latest.

But that to me shows very bad product checking then. If the company releasing the software or update is not confident it will work then they shouldnt release it and test it a bit more.
If everyone took their advice and no one updated straight away they would never find the problems and waiting a week would then be rendered useless as they wouldn't have found any problems that they would do if people are testing it, sending crash reports etc.
It hasn't slowed down for me, so I am not sure why it has done for you Paul?

Well. Allot of problems arent problems per say. Not for me and you. Changing one thing back to what you had it before is considered a problem for alot of people who have a panic attack over nothing.
There is no software in teh world that runs perfectly for everyone. Look at M$ updates, heck, even Dreamweaver updated for me and wouldnt work!
Youve also got to remember that with Firefox youre dealing with alot of third party plugins, which can effect the updates. To me that says a problem with the extension, but to most they dont even realise that their extensions are third party so the problem is with Firefox.

I suppose you have got a point - I forget about the days I used to panic lol. It just comes naturally now to sort it and wait for the official update to officially fix it.
The plugins are one of the strongest features of Firefox - but also the one that makes it most vulnerable to problems and especially, as you have said, when official updates are released. Firefox do a great job though and I can't remember the last major cock up they made?
