Fixing the URL .. complexed!

How do i do this ..

say for example my url is something.co.uk/index.html

how do i make it so its perm something.co.uk/ whenever i go onto a page i know it can be done using cpanel theres a day of hiding the index.html etccc for everypage ... help!
