MyBB already has just about everything phpBB3 will have and more already. Install it and see for yourself, and the main developer from phpBB left the website hosting. Plus I wouldn't hold your breath on phpBB3 being released any time soon.

i had these forged email problems a while ago... they eventually 'died off' - not a solution, but thats what happened :P
