Default How to Install DNN

What is DNN ?

DotNetNuke is an open-source Web Application Framework ideal for creating and deploying projects such as commercial websites, corporate intranets and extranets, online publishing portals, and custom vertical applications. DotNetNuke is built on a Microsoft ASP.NET (VB.NET) platform, and is easily installed and hosted.

How to install DNN ?

1. Download MSI installer of DOTNETNUKE from dotnetnuke.com/tabid/125/default.aspx and save it on the server.

2. Create the Mssql database from your Windows Plesk control panel with appropriate username & password.

3. Extract the Zip file on your local machine and upload the DNN folder into the httpdocs folder of your domain

4. Set modify permissions to the httpdocs folder. You can use the File Manager option in your Windows Plesk control panel. Give ,odify permissions to IWAM_ & IUSR_ users.

5. If you want DNN to be installed in a sub folder of your domain then it will be required to set as an Application directory. You can go to the Web Directories option in Plesk control panel and click on Creat new virtual directory option.

6. Once it done, browse the path dotnetnuke.com/DNN

7. Start DotNetNuke Installation Wizard.

DotNetNuke Installation Wizard

Step 1

DotNetNuke Installation Wizard - Version 04.08.04
Welcome to the DotNetNuke Installation Wizard. This wizard will guide you through the installation of your DotNetNuke Application.

Step 2

Checking File Permissions
DotNetNuke has extensive file upload capabilities for content, modules, and skins. These features require custom security settings so that the application is able to create and remove files in your website.

This page checks the current file permissions to ensure that these features will work correctly.

Step 3

Configure Database Connection
You can configure the database settings used by DotNetNuke on this page. If you are installing DotNetNuke in a "Hosting Account" your hosting provider should have provided you with the information.

There are two options for SQL Server 2005. SQLServer 2005 supports the use of Database Files. In most situations you should choose the Database option, but if you are using SQL Server 2005 Express then you should use the File option.

Select Sql Server 2000/2005 Database

Put your Database information

Server : IP\SQLEXPRESS
DB_Name : xxxx

Uncheck Integrated Security

DB_User : xxxx
DB_Pass : xxxx

Step 4

Configure Host User

In this page you should provide the information for the Host or SuperUser User Account. This user has access to all portals created on the site, and care should be taken to provide a UserName/Password combination that is difficult to "hack" by malicious users.
