I'm glad. And its good to hear how effective the CAPTCHA images combined with the simple maths question worked. I might try and implement that on my friends site!

Doesnt this put off some potential members / posters due to the extended registration process? Because if it takes you a while to register them they might not remember the post they wanted to make when they initially filled in the registration form?

Solution: phpBB 3 :P

Their CAPTCHA module is completely bot proof.

It's a simple process to stop most spam. Simply enable e-mail & code verification on your forum. Or alternatively use phpBB3 when it becomes gold .

Cool, thats interesting to know that it didnt really affect registrations. It is useful to know personally for my own forum as if and when it starts getting members and I should need to change the system due to spam or attacks I will feel like I have an alternative registration process. So thanks for the information! .

Everyone seems to be singing phpBB3s praises at the moment! The proof will be in the pudding - it will be interesting to use a forum that uses phpBB3 when it is up and running completely and out of the RC phase.

How to delete invision power board spam ?

Here is the answer => guild-wars.kjm.fr/index.php?showtopic=3141 ( Supprimer le spam IPB - Forum Guild Wars )

Translation

Requirement: Do not allow your members to post description with their topics
How it works: Bots always post description with their spam so that we have to detect topics with description and delete them

Hi Karl,
Like your site and would love to see some more 'mashup' or how about some 'hardtrash' or anything hard for when you're really messy on the floor ?!
Glad you've managed to solve the problem, it's one I also had with Invision which is why I changed to phpBB and SMF.
Now it's a case of 'if your names not down, you're not coming in !'
It's also best to leave it to Admin [or similar] sign-in unless you have a real good CAPTCHA system for guests, sounds like you have.
Good luck fella,
Laters !
Jon

Thumbs up

Theres a system for phpBB (used on shropshirejapcarclub.com for a demo) that randomly generates say ten pictures of cats and 5 of other objects, then the human has to mark the animals out.. Keeps the spammers back a treat.

I believe theres a conversion of this on its way for Invision!
