New account - not transferred domain name

Hi

I am a new customer and my domain name "example.com" is already registered with another provider, I intend to transfer it to EukHost after a month or so of "playing" around with my new account.

When I opened my account I was told to choose an option in the new account wizard (option 3 in a list of 3) that "said"...

1 Register New Domain
2 Transfer My Existing Domain
3 I will use My Existing Domain and update My Nameservers only.

When I go online and browse my domain name then I get my existing website hosting at its old location with the old provider, this is as things should be for now until I transfer the domain name over.

However I am at a loss to see any experimental files that I upload. My only successful browse so far involves typing in the IP address I have been given but I dont seem to be able to either browse further in the directory structure (as my directory manager indicates) or alternatively to "see" any index.htm (or .html) files that I add to my "Root" directory.

In short I am unclear about what my "temporary" URL is, whether I can expect to simply use IP number for now and if so then why I cannot browse files in my directory structure.

Sorry for being a duffer, I know all about CSS PHP and the rest of it but aspects of new account set up are new to me.
