Default Addon domains vs sub domains

Hi,

When I add an addon domain it also creates a subdomain. Do I need the subdomain, as it isn't going to get used and clogs up the domain lists. Is it OK to delete all the subdomains?

Also in the CP, is there any reason the lists are not all sorted alphabetically (for example addon domain maintenance). Eventually I'm going to have somwhere in the region of 80 domains in my CP and having all the domains listed together is a real pain.

Is there no way in e-mail management for example you can group everything by domain name?

Thanks

Paul

Hello Paul,

If you delete the subdomain then the addon domain wont work. Addon domains are parked on top of subdomains and if you delete the subdomain then addon domain will stop working.

Cpanel goes on listing addon domains as per the dates on which they were added so there's no way to sort them alphabetically.

Hi,

OK - I won't delete the sub domains. I'm starting to worry that maybe the CP isn't going to work for my hosting needs.

I'm currently with Fasthosts, and there CP is great. Everything is managed on a domain basis. However their options are all extra costs, so I started looking elsewhere.

I'm going to have to host somewhere in the region of 80 domain names (although 70% of these are just parked or aliasing to other domains). Some of these domains will have 20+ pop accounts and even more forwarders. Even the parked domains will have at least 2 forwarders. So I am going to be faced with a really long list that will include all the parked/addon domains and will be almost impossible to manage.

Am I making a mistake by using addon domains? Should I be doing it some other way.

So far I am very pleased with the features/price/support of eUKhosts, but I don't feel I could realistically transfer over all the domains and still be able to manage them efficiently.

Regards

Paul

cPanel control panel is much better than other control panels as the security features which come with cpanel are really good and cPanel leaves no backdoors for hackers or anyone else to create problems.

You can setup forwarders for parked domains as well as addon domains.

Reseller account is a better option if you wish to have separate accounts for all your domains but that way it will become more uncomfortable as you will need to login in control panel of respective domains to make any changes. I don't think that long list of parked domains or addon domains will make any problems for you as CTRL + F is always there to find your domain name.

Hi,

I think I have a reseller account (standard linux account at £9.99 a month).

Does this mean I can setup separate domains in their own control panel? This is something that would make it a great deal easier as there are some groups of domains that would work better from a management point of view if they were separate.

Is this why when I look at the one main account I have setup that it says there is less than 1Gb space available, even though the standard account comes with 7Gb?

If I can setup other main accounts under my standard reseller plan how do I go about doing this?

Thanks

Paul

It seems that you didnt login in your WHM so far. You need to login in your WHM from the URL specified in the welcome email. You will need to spend 5 - 10 mins in watching cpanel and WHM tutorials located at http://www.eukhost.com/support/

People who get addicted to WHM hate other control panels. I hope you will do the same in next 2 - 3 days. See the number of features and see the level of development that has been done on WHM.

Let me know when you start adding your other domains from WHM. We give only 1 GB space for the cpanel account that is created for your main domain and remaining 6GB space is there for your WHM to assign to other domains. Make sure that you add packages from your WHM before you start adding domains from "Create new Account".
