Error :

ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) Mysql password change failed!! A forced reset will now be attempted.

This error is typically caused by RPM issues after upgrades. While normally it will reset, then you will be able to set the password...to fix the error, you will most likely need to make sure all the RPMs were installed, you can do this by executing the following cpanel scripts as root:

/scripts/updatenow
/scripts/sysup
