Default cPanel main domain to sub folder

When adding an addon domain to your account, it creates a subfolder example:

http: // www . mydomain . com/addondomain/

Is there anyway to create a subfolder that your main domain is redirected to, within cpanel or WHM?

I'm asking just for organization's sake, I have all my addon domain's nice and neat in their own folders and if I wanted to see if I could do the same for my main domain.

(I found this question on another web site hosting with no answer, but couldn't word it better it myself so I just nicked it)

Hello,

With Cpanel/WHM its not applicable for main domain.
But if you wish to point your main domain to some folder, then you need to manually alter the DefaultDocumentRoot for your domain to use absolute path for that folder under VirtualHost entry of domain in servers main httpd.conf file.

In fear of sounding dumb, lol Where would I find these files on the server normally? Would I have to log in as root on ftp?

If I ever backed up the cPanel for a specific set of domains/sites and moved it onto another server, would it keep this httpd.conf file so it wouldn't need editing again?

I thought I'd have a play around and found something.

If you like to keep your website hostings tidy, ie not loads of subfolders for subdomains in the public folder, there is an option. When creating an addon domain normally the 'Document Root' will auto fill with 'public_html/some_domain.com'.

Well you could change this to something like 'addons_public_html/some_domain.com', thus keeping all your subdomains/addons in a tidy manor.

mainsite.com
- public_html/
anotherDomain.com
- - addons_public_html/anotherDomain.com
yetAnother.com
- - addons_public_html/yetAnother.com

Tidy house, tidy mind

And to answer my own question also:

/etc/httpd/conf/
