Email Forwarding
I've set up a few email forwarders to hotmail.co.uk & hotmail.com, when testing them I get a bounce back email.
Don't forwarders work on certain domain names?

Hmmmm not sure. Everything should be fine this end and i can't see a reason why hotmail wouldn't accept forwarded e-mail.
Whats the actual error? Or can you copy paste an error from the bounce back?

It might just be a very strange co-incidence.
I'll dig out the error(s) and let you know.

Good good - It'll help me to help you more if you can find those errors . Have you tried resending again now? - it could just be an intermittant problem.
Hope that helps .

Check your domain has SPF records, rDNS setup and also Domain Keys. It may be something to do with those that hotmail doesn't like. Ask support if you need any help setting them up.

No panic, I think it must be a really wierd co-incidence, I sent out around 40 emails (all forwarders) and had 5 back...all hotmail.!
Looknig at some of the other forwarders, I've noticed I have another 3 which haven't been bounced back.
I think we can put it down to dodgy email addressess.
...odd they were all hotmail though!

Maybe people have just got hotmail.com and hotmail.co.uk etc. wrong? That's happened to me before.

That was just a suggestion for some of them. It doesn't account for all 5 probably however I still think hotmail may be bouncing things because of what I suggested earlier.

Maybe - only Microsoft know the true answer to that and getting their help is .... well - blood stone, i think you can fill in the blanks.
Could be a spammer putting fake e-mail addresses in to wind you up as well .

Hello,
One way to diagnose the problem is to make sure whether you are able to receive emails on hotmail sent from your account on the server..?

new spam protection policies set by hotmail block forwarded emails and any other emails which are not directly intended for the recipient or not sent by the sending email address.
you should consider gmail for such requirement as gmail is the most reliable amongst all free email service providers.

Thats good to know Mark - Gmail is a lot better anyway - more storage and I find the interface easier to use, less prone to problems and way more features with less restrictions than Hotmail. Now just to convince the other 100 million users .
