Fantastico & cPanel 11 (MySQL Problems)
I was just wondering whether anybody else had experienced problems with getting scripts installed through Fantastico to work since the upgrade to cPanel 11?
Any new script that I seem to install at the moment through Fantastico has MySQL problems, such as can't access or read its associated database.
Strangly enough though, scripts installed prior to the update have continued working fine for me.

Since my server was updated last night I attempted to run a Fantastico update too and it failed, reporting that the license is invalid!
I was told by Support that they are querying these issues with Netenberg ...

Fantastico auto-update crons need to be reset after this upgrade. I've done this on Roger's as well as David's server so everything should get sorted now.

I assume that the fix meant having to disable some of the new cPanel 11 features and the skin?

I presume you're asking Mark ? If it helps, I've tried some tests installing a couple of Fantastico scripts in accounts that have been updated and also not, with the result that the databases now succeed in being installed correctly, in both cases.
I did find a difficulty in uninstalling Viper Guestbook after it had some data added — if fails on my server with this:
Warning: shell_exec() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/accountname/public_html/viper/prepare_removal.php on line 32
Operation completed. Close this window and proceed with removal.
Consequently I had to uninstall manually — I asked Support to inform me of whether shell_exec() is disabled for a reason. A further thought on this is that this may have been an issue before the update — I'm not normally in the habit of uninstalling scripts in order to discover these issues!
Are you having problems still then David?

I had a problem uninstalling Joomla this morning with the same message. I was feeling lazy (and had to rush off) so I got tech support to do the uninstall for me. They told me in future all I need to do is remove the directory it was installed in and then run the remove feature in fantastico. That should in theory get rid of it...

Yes I was asking Mark, but any help is appreciated!
No, all my problems are fixed now and Fantastico is working however my cPanel is now using the old skin and stuff like web disk and other new features of cPanel 11 are no longer there (like everyone was pre-upgrade).
I was just wondering whether this was necessary in solving the problem or whether something else has happened.

"X Skin Migration wizard" was showing your username pending for migration so I am not sure if you reverted it from the control panel or someone else did it. I've moved it back to X3.

I can only imagine that X3 has been disabled on your account (probably a server-wide thing) but in my case, because I can choose whether to enable or disable it, I can only tell you that it appears to make no difference to MySQL issues, i.e. when the cPanel update was done at the server, it would have affected all accounts with Fantastico, whether X3-enabled or not.
I have yet to test all X3 features in any given account so I'm still being cautious, but to answer your fundamental question from my current perspective, no it hasn't been necessary to disable it in order to get Fantastico working ...
Late edit: it seems I can't type fast enough to keep up with you two guys — you both posted as I was postulating!

Thanks for your help as well. You were right! - they were unrelated as Mark told me. I have the X3 skin and features on now and Fantastico working correctly so I am really happy .
