MYSQL database connection

Hi

I have a webdeveloper writing something in PHP MYSQL they will need to get acces to my database - can they do this without having access to my entire control panel - what are the passwords database name etc (where do I find them please)

Yep. You can allow them access to your database. Simply open your cpanel and click on MySQL Database Management icon. In MySQL section you will see an option at the bottom named "access hosts". Add his IP over there and then give him IP of the server, database name, database username and database password.

Make sure that you ask him to provide IP address of his machine by visiting whatismyip.com. If he says that his ISP allocated dynamic IPs to his machine then put "%" ( without quotes ) in access hosts section of your cpanel control panel. If you need help in creating database and assigning username to the database then go through cpanel tutorials located at http://www.eukhost.com/support/cpanel.php

As Mark pointed you can allow their computer to connect to the database by following his suggestion. But before that, create the database, then create/assign a user to that database. All this can be done via the "mySQL database management" section as mentioned in the reply above. So you have to give just this database name, username of the user you create here and the password for this database user. They should be able to connect to it then.
