Default SQL Database Counter

Has anyone noticed in the new cPanel that the counter on the left hand side that shows how many MySQL databases have been used stops counting when it gets to 35?

It seems, at least for me, that no matter how many more databases I use the counter stays at 35.

It doesn't really bother me, and I'm not concerned about it - I just wondered whether this had happened to anybody else? (and whether I have discovered a potential bug in the new cPanel ).

I can't help you on that as I have nowhere near 35 MySQL databases. Now who's looking for the glory?

Looking for the glory? Me? Never!! .

No, seriously, I was just interested to see whether this is an error just with me or whether other people had experienced it!!

And yes, I do deserve some glory if I have discovered a error in cPanel - all hail me lol

Indeed, it could cause fun if people are allowed something like 50 databases on a server. This is of course if it's a problem.

And yes, all hail you. Although I still think my mailing list idea deserves more hailing!

The newer releases should fix this, but you could always tell cPanel just in case.

Anyway, why on earth do you have over 35 databases!

Because I use databases on my website hostings for many different things. Don't forget my website hosting is well over 250 pages large so there is a lot of content to deal with and it needs things like databases for the interactive parts to work!!

I don't think it will cause a problem as you are allowed unlimited MySQL databases on all accounts anyway as far as I know (my plan definitely allows unlimted MySQL databases).

You could have all your stuff on one database though? :P Just using a different prefix.

I could do and that might mean slightly less databases but for all the fantastico stuff this isn't possible. Fantastico automatically creates a new database per script installed. Also, I prefer to have it in seperate databases as the data is then kept seperate.

For example, say I got a database error and everything was in one database I would lose all my forum, guestbook, education centre, mailing list, ads data (plus much more) all at once. With it in seperate databases this problem is minimised as a problem in one database does not cause a problem in another.

Also, there is no disadvantage to splitting the databases - they still take up the same amount of space and if anything work slightly more efficiently!!

Fair point about the down time there. But 35 still seems rather a lot!

Its a rather big website hosting, that expands and is updated quite a few times a day most days. So when you consider how big the website hosting is (and how big it is going to get) it is all in proportion to each other .

And I said it stopped counting at 35, not that I had 35
