Default transfer email accounts from previous cpanel account

I just got a VPS account, and I'm wondering how to transfer email accounts from my old host (a shared, cpanel-based account) to the eukhost server? I don't need anything else; just the email accounts, and any email currently on the server.

The WHM transfer tools seem to be an 'all or nothing' affair.

I was thinking that it might be possible to:
· re-create the accounts manually on the new server (with new passwords if necessary)
· copy the 'mail' folder to the new server

Anyone done this sort of thing before?

Thanks.

Cool

You can migrate your accounts from your old host to our VPS.
All you need to do is genrate the full backup from cPanel.
This full backup will contains all the web files, database and emails.

Once the backup is created, you need to move the backup file into the public_html dirctory and change the permission to 755.

you can then login to your VPS via SSH and use following commands to download the backup file on your VPS and restore it.
Quote:
cd /home

wget http://domain name/filename

/scripts/restorepkg username

PS:: Replace domain name with your domainname.
Replace filename with name of backup file.
Replace username with the username of the account at old host, which you want to restore.
If you face any problem in migration, Please send as an email to vps[at]eukhost.com from your registered email address and provide us the login details of your old host and your VPS root password. We will proceed and migrate your accounts on our VPS.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem is, I don't want any of the other stuff that has 'accumulated' on the account and bloated it; all the logs, caches, statistics files, cpanel and fantastico files, etc. Literally, the only thing I need is the emails; nothing else should be migrated.

It would be handy if I could just transfer the entire 'mail' folder across and recreate the email accounts.
Anyone done this before?

Cheers.

Hi.. you need to copy the mail folder as well as the etc folder from your old host to your VPS with us..

From old host:
Quote:
/home/old-user/mail
/home/old-user/etc
To the VPS:
Quote:
/home/new-user/mail
/home/new-user/etc
Let us know if you need any help with this 'mails-only-transfer' process..
