Default Windows Hosting Controller - Some Questions

Hi there,

I'm an experienced .net developer but i'm new to Hosting Controller and i'm struggling to get some things set up. any help would be much appreciated.

Firstly i'd like access to phpmyadmin to configure a MySQL database. Could someone confirm if the following is the correct method, as it's not working for me...
  • Click "Domain" and then select my domain
  • Select "Virtual Directory" from the options
  • Click "Add Virtual" on the right
  • folder name "WebDataAdmin"
  • where is WebDataAdmin located? i need to find it here but there's nothing listed. I just selected the "special" directory for the time being.
  • apply, then go to "tools", Web Data Administrators
  • Install Web Data Manager
  • select my domain and enter "WebDataAdmin" as the address name
  • click Apply
when i navigate to http://mydomain/WebDataAdmin i just get a 404 so clearly something isn't working.

On another note i was told that you would install the MySQL NET Connector to allow MySQL connections from asp.net pages when i ordered my package. Could you confirm if this has been done yet please.

Thanks, Ian

When I was using WHC all I needed to do was install Web Data Admin from the tools menu, it created the virtual directory for me.

I did have to contact support afterwards though if I remember rightly as I think there were some issues, but that was after I installed it.

I think you should:
Uninstall the Web Data Admin from the tools menu.
Make sure the virtual directory you created has been removed.
Then go back to Tools and re-install web data admin.

Then just go to http:// yourdomain.co.uk/WebDataAdmin/ to continue the setup.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Morldge,

Done as you said - yep it does create the VD automatically. I still get a 404 though. the standard html files are visible (like default.html & postinfo.html) so i know the website is up and running, but the virtual directory just doesnt seem to be working.

All I can recommend is that you ensure that PHP is enabled on your domain (but to be honest I would be surprised if this was the problem).

Next step is to email the support guys and see what they can do.

Good luck

Hello Ian,

You never added any MySQL databases from your control panel and hence webdataadmin was not getting installed. I have added the database with name _123 and also webdataadmin from the control panel.

Please try now. You can access it with http://domain_name/WebDataAdmin

Martin.
