BREAKING: The Donor Show is A Hoax
I'm sure in the last week or so you've all heard about 'The Donor Show'. For those of you who don't know about it, Endemol, the dutch production company whose portfolio includes shows such as 'Big Brother' had planned to air a show in Germany on Friday nights where 3 people eagerly in need of a kidney transplant would battle it out to win a kidney from a terminally ill woman. The idea has captured alot of criticism since it was first announced. It turns out it was all a hoax and that the terminally ill woman was an actress, Endemol say they did this to highlight the shortage of donors in Germany. I titled this as 'BREAKING' as it was when I was typing this. More info at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6714063.stm .

It's really shocking news that "200 people die each year while waiting for a kidney in the Netherlands itself, the number of such people might be extreme high worldwide. This will be good move to show these seekers on TV, I believe few people will come forward to save lives.

Well, the three people fighting for the kidney did know what they were doing. I don't see anything wrong with it, the producers thought up this show with an aim - to highlight the shortage of donors in Germany, they have successfully fulfilled this aim.

Yes, but it is taking the mickey out of not only themselves and the public but also people who really do need a kidney.
We know the world is short on donors - they could have put the money into advertising the fact on billboards, tv, radio, newspaper if they were that concerned rather than this big sick hoax of a show.
