Default Calling from abroad

Have you ever made a call from abroad to the uk from your mobile, the prices are shocking and most of the time rip you off, what are your opinions?

They have to be better than the New Zealand mobile calling rates, aparaently I hear they are some of the highest in the world. Now that is shocking.

I some times go for the phone cards you can get that you put in the phone boxs there much cheaper and you get longer. I think a text is 50p

Because I travel a lot - my 1st form of contact is my mobile. My monthly bill is around £120 - £200.
The biggest problem is when people call you when you are in another country! The network providers have yet to resolve how to bill the caller, so at the moment - the person receiving the call pays!!

Anyone tried Skype it works pretty good if you have ADSL.
I have regular chats with friends and colleagues in Malta, South Africa and Australia, and whilst travelling I use it to have conversations with my family at home.

The cost is free

Both ways
If they are 'online' you can see them (like MSN etc...) and you call them or..
you can buy Skype credits and actually dial a landline number from your PC.
The calling rates are pretty good (currently 1.1p per minute to over 20 different countries, so your call tonight to Spain would have cost you 3.3p on Skype)
You can also get a 'number' for your PC so that people from a landline can call you on PC.
check out the web site!

Skype makes you to make free calls anywhere in the world. Skype has several features such as SkypeOut calling from Skype to regular and mobile phones worldwide, conference calling, and secure file transferring. It has better sound quality also than your regular phone.

Unlike international long-distance calls made from conventional telephones, which are traditionally rated according to the relative distance between countries, SkypeOut bills all calls according to the level of telecommunications liberalisation of the destination country, the volume of calls made from and to a given country, and access charges such as those to mobile phones. This rating method is used due to the fact that calls are rated the same regardless of place of origin.

Ive got pretty good plan now. For international calls to Ireland i still use NobleCom.com, but with my cellphone i can call anywhere in the US for free, and i use Skype for international call when other people have them. I was going to suggest maybe EUK can use skype for people calling international? Cause i cant dial that support number you guys offer.

Yep.

We have recently setup skype. We are facing call quality problems with our toll free line so skype seems to be quite promising. Calling rates is not our priority as we need better quality for calls and quality is the most important aspect of our service.

When will your skype go live? I think thatll be a step in the right direction for sure. When i talk to you guys on MSN i tend to leave yous hanging alot, so voice will be excellent.

Voice support and MSN support staff is completely different. Our existing phone support staff will use skype. I am not sure how well it would work but the call quality on skype is much better.

I'll keep you posted with further information.

Hi

I am still thinking about skype, I am not convinced that it’s the cheapest option in the marketing, because I use the access numbers from *URL Removed* and compare the rates with them.

I know my cousin has got it set up and uses it, Just a thought

Regards
