Dial up isn't reliable though. If you want to download a 100kb file, 1 out of 2 chance is that the download would stop and you'd have to restart it.
If you're looking for reliable dialup internet access, Tesco may be beneficial

I never thought to go back to dial up.

Haha! AOL are famous for their dialup access - that's why they're popular in remote places of america - hence the name

Probably because of the name  - you see, there UK advertisements are a little different to US advertisements

This is true. I'm not sure how AOL has any customers left in the UK as everyone I know just says to keep well away!
Anyway, I've been away for the last week or two in Scotland and have been using my mobile and laptop for net access. Signal was patchy so I was back on dial up. It's quite funny as I basically reconfigured my whole firewall to stop everything accessing the net so I could actually have enough speed to load a website hosting!

lol, back in the dark ages - you see this is why you shouldn't have left Manchester, I'm on my mobile net at the moment and getting 3 meg download and 750k upload  .

Yes, but this was holiday in the middle of Scotland! Where I am at home, I get broadband speeds using my mobile  .
