I do my bit, lightbulbs, fairly economical car, motorbike, recycle my dish / washing machine water. It just gets me when Al Gore goes on and on about global warming and then jumps on a private jet.

Possibly they are referring to the "climate change" NOT the global warming.

It's always funny to read such articles. When people are forced to comment on the cooling they have to find a scape goat (la nina) and say it's all to do with that. They the skim over the part about an unusually severe el nino being responsible for the unusual warming in the 90s.

I think it is an interesting one but looking back, things with CFCs were the same. People said there wasn't a problem and then the hole in the ozone layer was discovered. Surely it's better to play it safe and try and do something to cut emissions. People seem to think we're all going to survive but if we keep damaging the planet the way we are, no one can really say for sure what the future holds.

I agree DPS it is good to try and change our ways. But what I find laughable is the propoganda with a few that support it and youre completely wrong if you disagree. I find the same kind of arguement from Vegans too, theyre right, youre wrong, how dare you try and find facts to prove me worng hehe.
I do my bit, I recycle grey water, I ride motorcycles, Ive used the low energy bulbs for about 6 years now, I grown my own fruits n veggies (as best as I can in the desert, but grey water helps) and I do many more things. I am pro environment, but what I dont like are people ramming things down our throats in a fashion as above. Gore had a terrible Presidential campagin because he lied and was hypocritical in what he said, like he is now. Pro environment people need a new face to push the word if they want more of my supprt, can I suggest Kelly Brooke

Just to add to a previously discussed topic - which is fairly related to this.
When we were having the discussion about Google having there background black rather than white, to save on electricity consumption and having it as a permanent feature rather than just for one day - Google have recently been questioned about this.
Google have confirmed that on monitors made recently (within the last 7-8 years) it doesn't make a blind bit of difference if the background is black or white - newer monitors use the same power to display both.
Will dig out the link and post it when I find it - quite interesting really - makes me wonder why Google even did it in the first place!!

Makes sense; black is still a colour generated. No difference. Maybe a difference to your eyes only.

Yep, such a common misconception that Google made its own press release about it - I imagine due to the fact environmental groups (who probably hadnt researched this issue in particular) were probably bashing them about why the don't have it black all the time if they really care.
When Google did this there were doing it to publicise the issue as opposed to actually helping it in anyway by changing the background colour .

Scientists skeptical of the assertion that climate change is the result of man's activites are criticizing a recent Associated Press report on global warming, calling it "irrational hysteria," "horrifically bad" and "incredibly biased."
They say the report, which was published on Monday, contained sweeping scientific errors and was a one-sided portrayal of a complicated issue.
"If the issues weren't so serious and the ramifications so profound, I would have to laugh at it," said David Deming, a geology professor at the University of Oklahoma who has been critical of media reporting on the climate change issue.
In the article, Obama Left with Little Time to Curb Global Warming, AP Science Writer Seth Borenstein wrote that global warming is "a ticking time bomb that President-elect Barack Obama can't avoid," and that "global warming is accelerating."

We should wait and see for next couple of years as we learn only when something goes completely wrong. US didn't bother to take any action against terrorism till they lost their Twin Towers.

Before I start my brain-spill session, I'l clarify that I'm 100% infvour of preservation of the earth!!
But, to continue:-
1. I had discussions with a friend around ten years ago about the current global warming crisis, and how this would cause the temperature in the UK to drop, due to the melting ice caps in the arctic no longer deflecting the gulf stream (exactly tying in with EUKHOST.COM's first post).
2. I've read in the last few years that we are in the warmer end of an ice age, which means that a "global warming" is to be expected, as we are coming back to the natural temperature of the earth
3. Finally, I live by the ruling that "If it harm none, do what I will" - and if what I do causes harm to the earth, or those that live on it, then I am wrong - so I try an live in an ecological manner.
