even the Nuclear weapons and Potassium cyanide (KCN) comes from earth. We can't use any of these for our personal use
Things which can make an impact of life of others should be banned.

i thing i found in what you are making a mistake, you say the things not the people ! if we cant control our actions and our mind we do not deserv what earth is giving us for sure. we can use port scanner for bad and good actions as well that doesnt mean we have to ban port scanner ( trying to speak your language)

you are right, but how do you control mindset of others ?
Give Plutonium to Osama and he will make Nuclear weapon from it. give it to a genuine Engineer and he will try to produce Electricity from it.
Probably we need to learn to live with both conditions

I think the Government downgrade of Cannabis from Class B to Class C was a cop out designed to be a "mid way" position between doing what half the people wanted by legalising it and doing what the other half wanted which was to retain it at Class B or even upgrade it to Class A.
As has been noted, alcohol can be just as dangerous as any one of these illegal drugs and both cause many deaths over the years. The drug rehab services need improving and sharing information to users about the effects and potential to overdose is vital - in the past talking about it has been very taboo which means users have had no inforamtion on it and therefore has created stupid cases of overdoses which could be easily avoided.
Imagine if you went to the doctor and go a prescription and they just said "You work out how much to take" - you would see a lot more overdoses from legal drugs than you do at the moment.
In no way am I trying to justify the drug use of anyone but there definitely needs to be help for people and information regarding it to be easily and freely available. It is very hypocritical to say that this shouldn't be the case as the government and people in general don't mind providing assistance to smokers or alcohol abusers so offering a little bit of information regarding these illegal drugs is a very small thing which would potentially save thousands of lives a year.
Believe me, if the government thought they could, Cannabis would be legalised and taxed as much as smoking currently is. The government desperately needs the money and it would also cut down on the importation and power that drug dealers have in this country. The problem is that at the moment - although there is a lot of support for legalising it, there is too much opposing it. Maybe this will change in the future?

just to make this topic alive once again.
I and john were discussing on Cannabis and we managed to make a list of people we know who are Cannabis addict. Cannabis seem to be more popular in UK than any other country. Our young generation is going in wrong direction and the negative mindset created by Cannabis is more harmful for the young generation and the country.

Legalize it. The drug makes people less violent, happier, and more introspective.

Drug addiction lead to many disorders and results in depression, because it mainly deals with the mind, it badly effects mind and leads into rapid heart rate and elevated blood pressure. The drug addiction is not an individual's problem but it is social problem. It require mainstream support to educate our young generation to get rid them from such dangerous addict. The person who are addicted needs personal attention, care & counseling, meditation, physical activity and individual therapy to get rid from drug and substance use in any form.

Yeah but people can become addicted to anything, gaming, porn, beer, drugs, literally anything. Does that mean we have to live in a "Big Brother" Gov and have them "protect" us from everything ?

I can understand this point.
But drugs do have the ability to distort reality a bit too much a little too quickly.

Gambling distorts the world and makes you see cards in your sleep and get a little too hooked to bingo. Alcohol makes you a little merry, dance like an idiot and come on to every man woman or beast in sight.
Drugs make you think your in the latest installment of Grand Theft Auto and go on an axe weilding rampage, stealing cars, shooting cops and rolling around on the floor.
OK, maybe thats slightly exgerated - but its all in proportion!
