Public Libraries
I'm on holiday at the moment visiting an ill relative, and have bought my laptop with me but haven't been in able to get a wireless signal.  So i wondered into the local library so that I could use the internet and check my emails (I'm in there now). I have a big moan though: a tonne of website hostings such as Bebo are blocked, and the library charged me £1.50 to use the computer for 30 minutes! I thought we paid taxes in this modern day and age, and I thought that they covered things like this... the library are thieving bastar*s, what's your opinion on this?

that's unlucky - all of our libraries offer internet for free - and for as long as you want. You'd have thought they would at least have a wireless system you could use for your laptop.
I think its a shame that libraries don't even stock books anymore!!

I don't think they charged you excess as you are in a intellectual hub  , the charges differ from place to place and seems they have imposed extra- service charge for that.

I block Bebo on all of our city and county networks too, so fair play to the library. There is a bunch of stuff in there by goons that nobody should read.
As for 1.50 ? Thats a lot for 30 mins, a can or two of beer. Disgraceful!

I get free internet access in both uni and the library. With absolutely no restrictions (if you know what I mean  ). - Not that I view the material I am inferring about!! |

I'm back home now - thank God! I think it's rediculous though that you pay and so many website hostings are blocked. I wouldn't mind if they were blocked if I hadn't paid though.

What website hostings were you trying to access (apart from Bebo!) |
