I hate Vista. I got an expensive Sony VAIO Laptop and it won't support any other OS besides Vista. Why can't you allow someone to install OS of their choice on a Laptop.

Are you sure - I thought you could install whatever Linux you wanted on it. Of course you'd have to do it yourself - but I can't imagine anything that would stop it.

what can you do with Linux if you don't manage to find any compatible drivers.

No sound & No network. Laptop without these things is of no use. I've tried everything and some of our windows team members as well as linux team members have given up any hopes. I'll have to reinstall Vista on my Laptop.

Here's mine...

Desktop

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
2 x 250GB Internal HDDs (RAID 1)
320GB & 500GB External HDDs
nVidia 8600GT Fatal1ty Edition
4GB DDR2 RAM
Standard DVD-Rewriter
Windows Vista Ultimate

HTPC (TV Machine)

AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+
1 x 500GB Internal HDD
4GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia 8400GS (Low Profile)
LG BluRay/HD-DVD ROM Drive
Windows Vista Home Premium

Laptop

Intel Pentium Dual Core T2800
1GB RAM
120GB Internal HDD
DVD-RW Drive
Windows XP Professional (Vista HP Kills It)

Vista runs fine on the first 2 machines, but its murdered my laptop several times.

Mind you, XP Pro with the Royale Theme is rather nice.
