since moving to your server meaning an upgrade from PHP 4-5 I can only have read access to my database from my web pages

no doubt this is one of the new security features the smart people at PHP decided to do
what do I have to turn off to get my web pages to work again?

You will need to explain the problem in detail so that I can understand what exactly the problem is or we can move your account on a server with php4. Let me know what would be convenient for you.

I am comfortable with both as it takes no time for us to move accounts from cpanel to cpanel servers.
