Default mySQL access via SQLyog

I'm trying to connect to my mySQL database using SQLyog instead of the cPanel.

I've entered the MySQL Host Address as 87.117.200.71 (my shared eukhost IP address), and the User Name and Password that I would normally use to interact with the database via PHP.

I keep getting an 1045 error (access denied for user) though. I think that I might be incorrectly identifying the server.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Chris

Hello Chris,

Cpanel wont allow you to connect remotely if you don't tell cpanel which host should be allowed to connect from remote location.

Just visit http:// whatismyip.com and copy / paste that IP address inside access host section of cpanel's MySQL Server section. This way you allow your local computer to connect to your database.

Default Use http tunnel

Use SQLyog enterprise (30 day trial) and copy the file SQLyogTunnel.php to the root of your server
Then the connection string in the http tunnel tab is www. MY-DOMAIN.com/SQLyogTunnel.php and on the server tab it is localhost and username and password
Worked fine for me to access both linux (where I guess you are) and windows MySQL databases.
Hope this helps - David
