Just a guess really but do you have to replace the "@" with "+" like you do for e-mail log in?

Well yes, the control panel password is the password you choose at sign up. The MySQL password is the password that you choose when you set that database up in your control panel.
Hope that helps .

be sure you are trying to login with your database username and password - not your cpanel/hostingcontroller one.

That is a good point. It is easy to mix them up when you keep having different log ins for different things. Also, no one has said whether the "@" has to be replaced with a "+" as with e-mail log in but if that is correct you could try that as well.
Hope that helps .

I wouldn't expect to find an '@' symbol in a database username.

Good point. Sorry I need to screw my head back on .
I think I need a reboot . I was supposed to be thinking about the " _ " that are sometimes in the names and not the @.
Sorry for that mistake .

as per my knowledge MySQL wont accept any foreign characters like @ ' " in database. it will accept _ or - only in the database username and password.

interesting thread, I have had the same problem today because I'm a newbie when it comes to eukhost!
From what I've learnt, the user name for the db is the first seven letters of the domain or subdomain, then an underscore, then the name of the db - but the short name, not the one you see in hosting controller with all the underscores.
So say you created a domain called dedicatedhosting and then created a db called content, the user name for phpmyadmin would be dedicat_content and the password would be whatever you typed in when you created the db.

You can call a database whatever you like (as long as it is within the rules).
I think you are refering to automatically created databases that things like Fantastico create for the scripts.

This should be interesting. Is your account hosted with eUKhost?
I suggest if you think your account has been compromised that you contact eUKhost immidiately so the matter can be resolved.

I have been speaking to them today. They are looking into who Muncey is and will get back to me. I can see that he regularly appears on a forum called jibbajabbas.com - but we will see! I have been reassured by eUKhost that my website has not been successfully hacked.

It would appear that your security has not been compromised by the fact that "Access Denied" messages have been delivered from phpmyadmin and no password has been supplied to him.
Hope you manage to get this sorted soon!

He never said he wanted your password. He said the error message said @xxxxxx.co.uk. And so does my PHPMyAdmin page if I supply an incorect username and password.
It's probably just the error message itself that's wrong.
But I have been wondering why references to another website appear in the login denied messages on my site's PHPAdmin.
My PHPMyAdmin instances were installed automatically through hosting controller.
