Default Advise please

Hi

Advice please.

I paid for scripting to be done for my website hosting.

It took a long time (days to get back to me did not reply to phone calls) and seemed to have lots of problems (have never seen this working correctly although he assures me it is working ok) so I asked for a full refund he suggested meeting half way and this is what we agreed.

My email to him….
Have still not been able to see it working.
Today all I am getting is problem loading page for ……………………………….
Lets not waste any more time and bring this to a conclusion.
Here's what I suggest:
You supply the disc and £xxx (cash) with written instructions on how to use it on my web site.
If it works that will be the end of it.
If it does not work I return the disc and get full refund of my £xxx.
When you say "I will need to find a suitable asp server with SQL Server database to host it" do I need a server that is compatible with Microsoft ASP.NET

It is uploaded to here and with the excellent help from tech support it nearly works.

They say “I think its better if you contact your programmer to fix this issue as its a scripting issue."
"in this case you have redefine your recordset"

Programmer says this “The code when it left here worked fine and I checked myself. If for some reason the code needs modifying to work on a different server that is beyond my control and something that (company name removed) are not going to service. I did put some of obvious stuff to change in the global asa file. If you would like us to then we can but there will be cost implications

Any suggestions on how to deal this this?

Thanks

Colin

Hello Colin,

Your programmer will need to recompile code once again and then upload it on our server. Reason for this problem is difference in ASP.NET version on his local machine and our server.

none of our staff members have knowledge of ASP.NET scripting so we wont be able to do much even if we think of download your code and reuploading on the server. We have some ASP.NET programmers on this forum so let me see if I can find someone to help with this problem.

We need to wait for Joshua ( Flesso ) as he has good knowledge of ASP.NET. I'll see if someone else is available right now.

Well, to begin with, what is the error that you are getting when you try to run the page? What your coder means by "I will need to find a suitable asp server with SQL Server database to host it" is that you need Windows hosting with the ability to create Microsoft SQL Server databases, and the ability to run either classic ASP or ASP.NET, something which you will find on all eUK's Windows servers. Now what support are saying by 'redefine your recordset' is that you will need to edit the database access details of the code to reflect the database details on your web hosting.

What I would do in your case is get support to create the database for you if you have the necessary SQL Server script or similar, then find where the database connection settings are within the code and change them to reflect your settings. The company that you used are obviously not worth either the time or the money that you are paying so my advice would be to try and get it running here and if that fails then to hire a professional to get it running for you.

Hi Flesso

Thank you for your reply.

Well, to begin with, what is the error that you are getting when you try to run the page?

My Answer.....

It sends a link to my email for me to click. This sends me to http://tiptopbirthdayparties.co.uk/s...e.asp?r_id=139

This gives me a HTTP 500 internal server error.... The website hosting cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website hosting is under maintenance.
The website hosting has a programming error.

What you can try:
Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

More information
.................................................. .................................................. .........................

My Answer.....

Technical support at EUKhost have be absolutely wonderful in getting it working to this stage. My last contact with them suggested “I think its better if you contact your programmer to fix this issue as its a scripting issue."

I can get into the database side of it to change the emails copy and other things, so guess that is a good sign.

I think I have exhausted Tech help here.

Looks like I'm off hunting for a professional to get it running.

Many Thanks for your help

Colin
