design question

Hello guys!!!
I am desiging a web site hosting and I asked this other guy for help and he said to use frames before I use Flash, Applets or JavaScripts. What do you guys think? I have a long page that I am using a static menu on but he suggested using frames cause he says it would load quicker. Do you think that is correct?

Frames are rather out-dated and best avoided. Similar 'frame' effects can now be created with the aid of CSS and 'div' tags. I'm sure someone else can probably explain better.

I would create to CSS divs, one for the left column and one for the right menu. It'll load a lot faster than an iframe.

Iframes should only really be used when there is no other way to do something.

Frames are outdated and Google ignores the content in them. If you really want the page to load faster, then use better techniques like keeping the page size down, using css, not using big graphics, and so on. Sometimes, fewer words can cause greater impact on the visitors than tons and tons of meaningless sentences. Also, some of the ads take a lot of time to load, so choose well, design your web site hosting in the best possible way, use better keyword and file names and use Search Engine Optimization methods.

BTW, your both website hostings are beautifully created!

Frames are useful for somethings but generally they should be avoided. Importing a google calendar into your web site hosting is fone via iframe usually.

With all due respect, the guy you asked for help doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. It will depend entirely on the nature of your web site hosting and its content whether or not you'll need to use Flash elements or javascript. But you will certainly not need to employ the very old and very bad practices of framesets.
