Default How can I achieve this? : Holiday dates calendar availability?

Looking to do something along the lines of this:-

http://www.villadalriada.co.uk/page6.htm

Now, I'm not sure how that web site hosting is ran and whether the owner of the accomodation has the facility to update the availability himself or if he gets his web design guy toupdate it on his behalf, but I would like to know how the availability table was done in the link above as I'm looking to implement something similar into a web site hosting of my own.

I assume php would be required to allow the client who owns the accomodation to be able to update it themselves.

All you have to do is ask me. I don't bite That is my website hosting you are looking at.

I don't have a web design guy other than me and I do update the availability myself. This was my first attempt at a website hosting so I hope you like it. There are a few different options for availability calendars depending on what you need.

I advertise through Holidaylettings which I find good. This is a link to the Holidaylettings availability calendar which I update through Holidaylettings.

I did a holday renal website hosting for a friend and used the free availability calendar on dateblockers-dot-com. It's pretty good , it's free , it isn't tied into any rental sites but if you do advertise on vaious sites you can update via your Dateblockers calendar and the updates will cascade to your other rental web site hosting specifc calendars meaning minimal maintenance

A very good source of info for renters generally (including web design , tools & marketing etc) is laymyhat dot com

Ian ..also north of the Border (BMW R1200GS , Aprilia Falco chipped & piped , Honda VFR750F-V ,Volvo V70 D5 (chipped) , Volve 855 2.5 10V , Mazda MX5 Mk1 )

villadalriada dot co dot uk (sorry i am not allowed to post urls until I have 5 posts)

Thumbs up

Hi Gary, you can achieve this through ASP too Infact HolidayLettings use ASP/JS too...
From what I can see through looking into their code is that they have an interface to which clients use a login ID to access & manage their account [home_id]..
It may be a very simple interface [rather a CMS] using ASP/MSSQL or PHP/MySQL in the back-end, to which you just enter some amount of raw data, which can be displayed in a pretty way after processing . They provide you with a link which you need to embed into your homepage [or any other page] where you want the processed data to be displayed...

Thanks guys.

Slarti....I've went for the dateblocker one for now, I think it looks pretty good now I've played around a bit with the colours to match the site's theme. Many thanks for the link and also thanks for that link to laymyhat, very useful.

Congrats on your site, it looks great.

I'm almost finished mine. I've just got a bit more content to add into a couple of pages, add a nice border to the small pics on the Welcome page under the text and generally tidy a few more things up, then Search Engine Optimization it.

Here it is in its current form at the moment:-

The web site hosting looks good to my inexperienced eye. Nice and "clean" and very inviting looking pic's.

If you want some constructive criticism , post it up on laymyhat. Some you may agree with, some you may not but it's all food for thought to use or ignore. Persoanlly I'd like to see price information (or at least an indicated range)

Glad Dateblocker worked out for you. I'm a great beleiver of not re-inventing the wheel
Sorry for the delay in replying but I'm just back from holiday
