But in all fairness Vista isnt as buggy as IE8 - I've only just learnt to trust IE7 and now they want me to switch soon!! Typical!

I rather think that its pretty cool they're launching v8 of IE - let's hope the final release is much better than IE7. You seriously can't use the BETA at the moment, it's incredibly buggy. They don't even have an option to report the bugs found in the BETA release.

Pretty much - they arn't doing it for profit (well not in the charging for software sense at least) so they actually care whether the product works. Microsoft just care that its good enough to get you to part with some of your cold hard cash .

Well I imagine he finds it hard to spend millions of pounds every single day - after all he has been doing it for the past 20 or so years .

Internet Explorer 8 enhanced Developer Tools expose the internal representation of Web pages to help research and resolve problems involving HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and script.

I really hope the release of IE8 will finally kill off IE6 for good. As a web designer, Its so frustrating having to still support that obsolete browser just because your clients and there clients are still using it.
I don't know if there sticking to it by choice, or if they don't know any better. I've spoken to some clients before and they don't even know what a web browser is when there right there using one!

Many coders still prefer IE 6 though it never embraced the standards in very first place! However there is news that IE 8 Will follow Web Standards after all, let us hope some positive accomplishment with this browser.

I doubt it as I suspect like IE7 it won't work on Windows 2000 or Windows 98, both of which are still used by a fairly significant number of users.
I tend to go on the rule of design for Firefox and then add in fixes for IE via conditional stylesheets.

I didn't realise IE7 does not work on those OS's! Yea thats how I normally would do it as well by building for Firefox. I'm sure IE6 will go away one day, it may be a while still!

IE6 will not go so easily.  because many people won't change for little benefit or there might be more reason like;
-Many people still use old computer
-Because they dislike change
-Don’t know the advantages
-crazy out and their love with IE 6
-Most of them don't care what a browser is?

Very good point. I mean come on, what chance have you got convincing everyone to dump IE6 when there are still people in this world using IE3, Netscape Navigator and the original "Mozilla" browser.
