Arrow Please advise me how to build webpages

I have frontpage and dreamweaver. Can someone give me the lowdown on how to build a website hosting? Is there a web site hosting that tells you how to do it, and simple to understand. I need it to be real simple to understand. I can create the pages, its the make it all work in hosting that I have a problem doing.

Thanks

I am guessing that you mean how to upload your pages to the server?

That being the case; With dreamweaver you will need to set the ftp details for your web site hosting which should have been supplied. Go to Web site hosting (top menu bar) > New Site, this will bring up a dialoge box, click on the Advanced tab (isnt that advanced really) first you will be asked for Local information (i.e. where your web files are stored on your computer) and the web site hosting URL (web address).

Next; Click on the Remote tab (server information)
Access: FTP
FTP Host: enter ftp.yourdomain.com (your correct domain and ending without the http://www stuff)
Host Directory: Normally this woud be "public_html" (without the quote bits) is just the root folder for your account, which your host welcome email should mention.
Login: account the login name (again see the welcome email)
Password: ,,,,, welcome email again for that.
Checking the box for passive ftp helps with some servers, but doesnt seem that important for most (not sure of the reasons for this).

Once the web site hosting details have been set, it is just a case of uploading to the server by clicking the on the folder in dreamweaver, then the up arrow on the Files menu (should be at the side, depending on how you have it layed out)

Try and aviode file names with spaces and mixed case lettering and you should be ok. For frontpage? sorry I have no idea, I stopped using it several years ago and I think some of the features are no longer supported (sure someone will correct me if I am wrong).

Ped

Hi

If you need a hand or want some help, PM me.

Scrap Frontpage and use Dreamweaver - best advice , ok Frontpage gets you started quickly but for quality use DW.

Visit www.w3schools.com they have some good tutorials that should guide you through HTML.

If your 2 links at the bottom of the post are any indications (with PR4, PR4 & 3 - Search Engine Optimization & IM for business sites) and also more than 7-1/2 years' experience in web designing field, you must be a PRO yourself...! Do you really want to know "How to build a website hosting?"!!

Humbly asking, please tell me more about those 2 links

LOL, the question itself seems to tick a few Search Engine Optimization boxes too
