Public Access To Test Environment

I have been developing a new website hosting using the domain name that I was given free when I purchased my EukHost web hosting. It now occurs to me that doing this runs the risk of people stumbling upon the web site hosting and trying to use it.

So my question is how do I disassociate the domain name from my development web site hosting so that access can only be via the ip address?

I'm curious to see what the eUK responses to this will be, but in the meantime I suggest that you simply change the domain's nameservers to something you know is non-existent and let DNS propagation take its course.

I have gone into my domain on Plesk and switched-off the DNS service. Message I received is as follows:

The DNS zone displaycentretest.co.uk is no longer served by this DNS server.

The ENOM panel still has my Plesk DNS matched to my ip as I acnnot delete these.

Does this mean that my domain can no longer be found on the Internet?

Sorry, can't advise you on the theory of what you've done as I don't have a Windows server (or Plesk) but from a practical viewpoint, I've just checked your domain records and tried to connect to the website hosting but failed to do so — neither did I succeed with a Tracert attempt ...

I see that you have your own nameservers associated with the domain, which if you had changed temporarily at the registrar, would probably have achieved the same result, but what you've done in Plesk appears to have worked!

Plesk domain name is displaycentretest.co.uk - do I use this as username or foldername?

It would be the account name of your domain (and possibly something you would not want revealed here).

On a Linux server with cPanel, if you created an account for the domain displaycentretest.co.uk it would by default offer to create the account name from the first 8 characters, i.e. 'displayc' (which you can use or change/shorten at your discretion). I imagine Plesk does something similar?

If not you'll have to await Mark's answer (or another staff member with access to your records) ...

Late edit: sorry, the above relates to username; foldername is exactly that, i.e. the folder and filepath names.

The full path for Plesk's web site hosting preview for any domain hosted on a Plesk server would be:

http://serverip/$sitepreview/domain/

Server IP = IP of server that you are hosted on.
Domain = Your domain name.
