I would Google this. There is a service which you can sign up for (you have to pay though) which gives you desktop access to all different OSs so that you can test and see how the website hosting renders in different environments. Sorry I can't remember the name of it.
There is a plugin for Firefox called IETab which allows you to view pages in Firefox but renders them as an IE environment. This should help if you want IE on Mac.

A bit of a dead topic, but if you have Windows XP Pro, Windows Server Standard or the Business and Ultimate version of Vista then you can download Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and create virtual machines on your desktop which run on a specified OS, you can go back as far as Windows NT and forward to Vista; it's a great tool for testing apps on older versions of Windows, as well as testing website hostings in older versions of browsers and in different environments.

That is possible - but very time consuming, processor + memory + hard drive intensive as well as only being able to use a fraction of the "real" systems resources.
Browsercam.com lets you use different browsers on different OSs of your choice but if you plan using MSVPC anyway then you could use the additional way suggested by flesso. To be honest, the OS doesn't tend to make the most difference, trying a website hosting in different browsers based on your own system (or that you could install on your own system) is suffcient for all but the most huge international corporations that want to guarentee everything works in every browser on every OS.
To be honest, writing good and official code should mean that you don't need to use that much extensive testing!

It's not that resource intensive...

Depends on your computer I suppose. But one thing I hate about it is that the VM can only use half of your available RAM for the second operating system. When running on my dual processer system MSVPC2007 uses at least 50% of the CPU time even when idle - thats why I said it is a bit of a resource hog, but then again 2 operating systems wern't designed to run in this way so there is a justified reason for it .

It's a good thing to use if you are testing out apps on different OSs (that's something browser cam doesn't do) it also doesn't take that long to setup...

I use it a lot - mainly to install old OSes and use old software and play old games that won't work now.
I know browsercam cant test out other apps that arn't web browsers on different OSes but that wasn't what was wanted originally lol

It's still better than Browsercam, whatever you say; simply because it's free (which makes a change considering that it's a M$ product.

Some people would rather pay £10 than have to learn and buy loads of different OSes and clog up their machine but I do get your point.
Thats just like saying, "designing a website hosting is better than paying a company to do it because its free" - that may be the case but some people can't be bothered or simply don't have the technical knowledge to do so .
