Hi Colin, Do you mean to change the wordings on your website hosting online ? This can be achieved through the help of MS-Frontpage, editing the website hosting alive, directly by connecting to the web site hosting using Frontpage with the help of FTP details. Let me/us know if you need any further help with this.

Hi Rock

What I have in mind is downloading web site, changing text then up load it.

I do not have MS FrontPage (have MS office professional 2003) believe this is no longer available.

Looking for something that is easy to use.

Thanks

Colin

You could use something along the lines of Adobe Contribute to change the web site hosting "remotely".

But I see you want to download it and edit the files from there and then upload it back again.

What did you use to create the website hosting initially?. Can you not use that?. ( Forgive me for pointing out the obvious!!! ).

Hi

This was created by a 3rd party.

I am new to all this and trying to get as much control over my website hosting as possible.

Thanks

Colin

Hi Colin.

A couple of suggestions.

If you want "free" webdesign software, there are a few alternatives out there.

1st Page 2000

http://www.evrsoft.com/

Serif WebPlus 6

http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/sof...us/default.asp

http://www.kompozer.net/

....are three of the better "free" ones.

Also, keep your eye on the Monthly PC magazines as every so often on their coverdisks a free web design program crops up.

It all depends on whether you are prepared to purchase a package of web design software.

The best, most powerful and easy to use WYSIWYG editor however, in my opinion, is Adobe Dreamweaver CS3.

You can download a free trial of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 from here:-

http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/

I use Dreamweaver CS3 myself and find it to suit all of my needs. Its a superb package and integrates well with all the other CS3 products like Fireworks, Flash etc.

Its easy to use for a beginner but still powerful enough for an established web designer and developer.

If you give it a try and have any questions on it, dont hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to assist.

What website hosting is it you want to change?. Do you have the url and do you mind posting it for me to take a look at?. I might be able to help out on some things for you, as will many others here.

One thing to point out is the Intellectual Property situation, I dont know if it applies in your case or not, it can be a bit of a "grey area". Do you fully own the rights to the website hosting in order to make changes to it?. I'm guessing you do since you mention that you can access it via FTP.

Any further questions, just ask.

Regards,

Gary.

Hi Gary

Thanks you for your advice.

I'm happy to pay for software as long as it is easy for sombody like me who is new to this.

I'll do come checking out of your suggestions.

My webite is www.tiptopbirthdayparties.co.uk I own it all.

I paid to have the web site hosting made no problem.

I paid for the script for the email replies but it has not worked out ok. He assures me it is working OK. I have yet to see it working.

He has emailed me the zip file with these intructions.

In the root folder of the website hosting is a file called global.asa
In this file you need to change the domain name and smtp to the relevant ones your new server company should supply The zip also contains the SQL Server back file. This will need to be uploaded to the server and installed. Then look in a folder called connections ( in the root) and a file called mrfuzy.asp this will also need changing to the relevant code.
All of the above is server specific and your new host should supply you with the information you need to address these changes.

Just got Tech help and when I tested the form I got this error so guess there is more work to be done.

"Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

Any help you can give is very much apprecited.

Thanks

Colin

Hi Colin,

Just had a look at your web site hosting and although its not a huge web site hosting in the respect of the amount of pages, the content contains .asp which I'm really not that familiar with.

There are however, a few folk on here that should be able to assist.

Have you purchased a hosting package here with EUK and is your web site hosting hosted with EUK at the moment ?. If so, I would suggest you post in the Technical Support section on the forums for assistance with your problems. You may need to raise a support ticket also, this can be done by clicking below:-

http://support.eukhost.com/

Be aware though that unfortunately at this present time, the Help Line desk is "down" as reported by Nick earlier today, I'm not sure if EUK have got everything back to normal now regarding this, so emails and response to you may be delayed.

To be honest, your going to have difficulty changing anything on the website hosting as far as the "back end" of it goes. Simple text changes etc you should be able to do without any problem via a half decent web editor but when it comes to .asp you might have problems.

Again, I suggest you post in the Technical Support section. The support here on EUK is superb, and I hope you get a resolution to your problem soon.

I would be more than glad to assist further, but I'm limited in my skills depending on the subject matter and .asp I am not that clued up on. Sorry!!!.

Regards,

Gary.
