Spam From Dharma Research
Sorry all, couldn't find anywhere more appropriate to put this apart from here.
Anyways, many email addresses I and others have seem to be getting spam from a website hosting called 'dharma-research.com' - too much spam for my liking. I was wondering if anyome else has had any spam from them or knows anyone who has. They seem like Indian spammers to me.

Yeah, I’m also getting a lot of spam recently but not from the one mentioned over here. They are mostly from Viagra spammers. I fail to understand the joy of spamming the inbox of other people, who are least interested.

I can confirm I've had a reasonable amount of spam recently but non from the domain mentioned by you Josh.
If you are fortunate enough that the domain of a lot of your spam is staying the same and not being masked can't you just block all email from that domain name and ask the server to delete it before it gets from the mail server to your inbox?

He should not if thats the only domain from where he has been getting spams.
People start complaining if they don't get at least 1 spam a day. Its really difficult to survive without spams this days

My email address seems to have been rollled into one of these 'Get a free iPod!' offers and it's then been sold to all the other spamming companies. I'm just going to switch email addresses - that will sort it.

Be Honest and accept that you filled out a form somewhere to get a Free iPod
I never use my main email address to fillout any sort of forms on web. I have reserved one email address for such online forms and now that mailbox gets more than 200 spams a day, must be more as I never count those.

Take a look at the knowledgebase post I made a few weeks ago:
http://www.eukhost.com/support/knowl...avoiding-spam/
I've managed to keep my mail e-mail address spam free for over a year now, and hope to keep it this way.
I never publish my e-mail address on the internet, and tend to use contact forms instead. I never use my main e-mail address as my .NET Passport address either (MSN Messenger) - and have used an alternative address instead.
If I don't trust the website hosting upon registration, I'll always input different e-mail address with them, so that if they do send out spam, I'll be able to know A) Where it came from and B) It wouldn't bother me, as the address I'll have provided them will never be checked.
Another tip is always to check the Privacy Policies' of a website hosting. This will outline how they use your information, and if they subscribe you to any newsletters or submit your information to any third parties.

I used to try and avoid spam but I just accept it now.
Spam filters were designed to deal with spam so I don't have to think about where my email address is getting out to.
Just like now - we don't not download things off the Internet for fear or viruses - we just download it and immidiately scan it and if it has a virus we dump it.
Spam filters are quite good these days and setting up both server based and client based spam filters has eliminated 100% of my spam - so therefore I just publish my email address (for my website hostings, not my personal one) on my website hosting for ease of use - you can just click it and email. If its genuine it gets through and if its not its their time they have wasted not mine .

I have made very good experiences with spam filters too.
I think I can recommend filer of Mozilla Thunderbird which worked very nicely for me, especially after it has been trained for a while.
Today it probably recognizes 99 of 100 spam mails for me.

One of the best spam filter ideas I've heard is one Manchester University have put in place. It basically bounces all mail back to sender the first time it's sent. If it's sent from a proper source, it will get sent again and then the server accepts it. If it's spam, it won't be sent again. According to IT technicians in the uni, it's massively reduced the spam they're getting.

That sounds clever for a personal mail account but imagine a customer of your company is trying to mail you. He might not take the time to send his message a second time but get annoyed and choose one of your business rivals.
