However Googles spam protection is rather superior to WLMs or any other public email server .

Yes, google spam filters are very good and pretty accurate!!! They even get all of those 'replica watches' emails that other systems think are from friends lol.

Yep, I rarely get a bit of spam through them to my inbox - maybe 1 or 2 emails per 3 months which is definitely not bad going. That kind of spam protection will be worth millions to Google should they ever decide to sell it. It also has never categorised something has spam which isn't - this is one of the main problems I have with WLM.

Well, did you care the spam ads of adword appearing in your "inbox"? I don't think it is unintended consequences.

Nope that is one downside - but one I can cope with. Nearly every website hosting and every service, especially "free" ones have some form of advertising.
Look at things like MySpace that have been overrun to the point of unusability because of ads!

Well, but for me its looks awkward as someone peeping into my inbox.

As long as they don't look at the data and it is used automatically for the ads and the data is not stored.
This must of course be what that are doing to comply with the Data Protection Act which I have every faith they are complying with otherwise they wouldn't be staying in business for all that long .
