Link Bidding directory??

What do you guys think about link bidding directories?? Do you think they can be profitable? Is anyone here a member of a link bid directory or better yet does anyone here own one? How do they work?? Do you think the link bidding directories are comming to an end?

What do you guys think?

They can be profitable when they become huge. Unfortunately most fail or don't make substantial profit. In a lot of cases not even managing to break even.

But for the lucky people that make it work I suppose ad revenue etc can be quite profitable .

IMO they seem like a waste of time. Users will just submit to a free directory. Unless you have a PR8-10 domain its not worth bothering with.

I just think the amount of effort and potential failure rate would put me off personally, but go for it if you want to .

There are millions of directories which offer free submissions so I am not too sure whether link bidding concept can be profitable. What has made such kind of directories really popular is that the top ten bids are shown on the home page and some also have a ‘top bids’ page where the top 10 or 20 bidders are listed or have the top bidder listed on every page.

Yeh, enjoyed some time off, then came back with some idea's to try out that don't require as much of my time .

With regards to the link directory, i recently came across pagerank10.co.uk, with as far as i can gather, sites refer to the web site hosting and increase its backlinks and the top referer when it reaches PR10 gets the website hosting.

From what i read the web site hosting has been very profitable for the current owner.

This idea is unique, like the million dollar homepage. So from that i suppose the best advice is to think of something with a twist, or copy the creators idea when its first catches on lol.

Unique concept always pays. If you see your friend running hosting business and even you start same thing then maybe you wont be as successful as your friend as your concept was not unique.

Experience that you have gained in last couple of years will pay you in long run and who knows you can be another Millionaire within few weeks

Thats a very good point. I'll bear that in mind. My goal for the next couple of weeks is to come up with a brillient idea which will make me rich!

A link bidding directory... well if its a really big directory - then yes! Else, no. But good luck with whatever your making...
