Default New Business

Hi All,
My name is Nirooshan and I am trying to start up a new business. I will need to get started with some advertisement such as business cards and some simple flyers.
Does anybody know where I can get them designed and also printed?

Thank you!

Google is your friend on this one! The Pronta Print in our area is pretty good, I found them very helpful. Its always a good idea to shop around tho.

Default make your own

In my opinion it can be pretty easy to create a very good-looking business card and/or flyer on your own. All you really need is some kind of graphics program and in the long run buying one of them could potentially be cheaper because you could create new and updated flyers/cards as your business matures. Doing this kind of thing is relatively easy and if you have no experience in it is it pretty easy to learn as well. Once you have created them you could print them yourself (depending on your printer) or outsource the printing to a company. Its up to you...if ya have the money for it then getting stuff designed may be better for you, but if your just starting the business then why not lower your costs and do it yourself.

I used VistaPrint for it. Very easy templates already done for you. Just type in your text/add graphics and delivered pretty cheap.

Just remember if your designing stuff to be printed it needs to be much higher resolution than when your designing it for the web.

Plus another good tip is to find out from your chosen printing company the exact dimensions you need to create your documents, as some require you to include bleed marks etc.

Another thing is colours, I would recomend getting a copy of the Pantone colour guide and choosing colours from that. Sometimes RGB colours on screen can look very different when printed. The Pantone guide can aparently be quite expensive to buy, but I have found most printing companies will have a copy you can reference.

Hello,

Advertising is the exciting part of a business - but the thing is, you should advertise in the most effective place. For instance, would you go to a mall and post flyers up to go to your web hosting business, maybe yes but it may not attract visitors, for various reasons; they may forget the website hosting link as they get home, or they totally ignore it. But what would a mall be good for advertisement? Maybe a circus is on somewhere, a mall might be an effective way to advertise, but I'm still unsure on that. Good luck starting your business, just remember to advertise in the areas that match your business criteria.

Designing the business card, flyers, etc. is the easy and fun part. Having them printed is a much more difficult task. I would suggest not only searching on Google for companies that offer services providing this, but also for reviews on each company to ensure that you get the best deal possible. Remember, presentation is one of the most important aspects of a new business. If you make a good first-impression and appear to act in a professional manner then you are far more likely to entice customers and encourage repeat-customers.

I've heard VistaPrint mentioned quite often, but have not yet used them myself. Would anyone care to comment on their services?

I've used Vistaprint and found them brilliant. Done a lot of orders for customers where I have designed then uploaded to vistaprint. Came out really nice. You need to be using 300 pixels per inch and CMYK settings in Adobe Photoshop.

For flyers I found a brialliant company in bristol. www.azimuthprint.co.uk

Had 10,000 flyers printed and sent quick, very cheap and top quality. They even rang me to tell me the correct settings for my artwork and how to re-submit.

Thank you for the very informative post nams! I had never previously heard of Azimuth Print, but believe that I may now be giving them a trial. Thank you for the recommendation - they sound brilliant.

Good to see more positive comments for Vistaprint too. I have a couple of clients that may be interested in their services and would be more than happy to pass along the link. Just making sure that I would not be making a mistake in doing so though.
