Online Shoppers and Privacy Policy

A recent study from Carnegie Mellon University/ (CUPS) Lab shows that "people were more likely to buy from online merchants with good privacy policies, as identified by Privacy Finder and were also willing to pay about 60 cents extra on a $15 purchase when buying from a website hosting with a privacy policy they liked". pressesc.com/01181159576_price_of_privacy

No doubt Privacy is innermost part of our dignity and our human rights.

Privacy is probably the number one concern of most online shoppers.

However, the problem is, some website hostings privacy policies are that long they are like a book and some parts can be complicated to understand unless you have a law degree!

If a particular website hosting has BBBonline/ TRUSTe.org like seals that does not require more detail other than the general guidelines for privacy policies.

How would one go about getting that certification though? What criteria do they have to meet?

I have no idea about that, need to check their website hostings, however it is too expensive to get their seal.

I bet it is. I imagine it is well within the thousands - I was just wondering about the criteria so we can see how much website hostings that do have the seal have had to prove themselves.
