Zen Cart all the way, I tried OSCommerce first but found it too baisc. I've worked for a while on Zen Cart and can easily say I'm quite an expert now. Fully configurable and so good to manage order's. Plus there are so many contributions by people developing code you can do sooooo much it's crazy.
You gotta be good with figuring stuff out sometimes though as their documentation isn't the best. I mostly use their forums.

A quick question...
Do any of them allow you to upload a product database via csv file or similar. I've been asked to look into it at work and our product database (which might all be included online) is hundreds of products, I don't particularly fancy manually entering each product. Preferablly open source would be handy.
EDIT: Found www. oscommerce.com/community/contributions,500 a tool for OSCommerce entitled 'Easypopulate'.

Hi Well,
Yes Absolutely Choosing a Shopping card is very important one.. But My consideration only osCommerce .
First Reason
It has attracted the largest community for an e-commerce solution that consists of over 125,000 store owners and developers worldwide with add-ons being contributed on a daily basis.
Second Reason
I always Like Open source Product (I am a Java Based Software Professional)
So I always support Open source anywhere...
Regards,

As a general note if your host has turned register_globals and register_long_arrays off and you can't turn it on via htaccess then you're a bit stuffed. I know there aree some fixes via contributions however it doesn't fully work. However the solution was simple, at work we switch hosts to eukhost and am currently in process of closing the old host accounts.

Suggestion
Hi there,
Hope someone can help me. I am looking for some shopping cart which allow me with an option to switch between the following:
1. Display products for all users.
2. Display Products only for logged in users.
3. Display Products without prices for non-logged in users.
Payment Processing Methods - Google checkout or paypal will help as well.
Looking forward to hear from someone.
Cheers.

No one has mentioned FreeWebshop. I have to two shops using this software and it is free. I love it, even for technically challenged me it is easy to setup and use.
Here is a link if anyone wishes to check it out

FreeWebshop most of the time Rated as : High Risk due to few vulnubalarity; frsirt.com/english/advisories/2007/0319 however I am not sure, they might have added more security features in current version.

Zen cart will do all those. I've done 3 shops with it now and it is very versatile with a good forum for getting questions answered.

I know there has been a lot of revisions and the latest version is 2.2.9R2, and there is a very good bug tracking system now.
I have sites in two languages and just helped to add some translated lines to the lang files (Spanish), it has a pretty nice community where everyone helps each other, and noobs are not treated with a sneer. Some forums can be so nasty with noobs, and because of this people will not ask for help for fear of ridicule. Clearly that would not stop me, as I do not care if people think I am dense, because there are times when I am
As for FreeWeb shop, I think if someone wants something pretty simple to setup and maintain then it is a good alternative. osCommerce was my first foray into a shopping cart as my good mate wrote a great deal of the code, and he recommended it.
