Correct. Even if your website is a Local E-commerce website, submitting your website to International directories will help you to get good rankings for the specific keywords in the Search Engines and it can also give good Page Ranking to your website which would certainly help

Since Google started showing local search result and improved in its ability to identify local intent so it is important to optimize your site first for locals search, this is because you can even see the local results on with non-localized search queries. Google obviously found that the users appreciate this feature. Official Google Blog: Google becomes more local

Thank you for the link Paul!
It is indeed very interesting blog. However, if we see the results for the same keywords that Google has used in the blog (restaurant and dentist), we get more international results than local. Seems like Google is still working to get the exact results.

Yes, it is definitely Noticed that Google is changing it's Algorithm constantly to make the Results Pages better. However, as far as I know, the Importance of Backlinks won't be affected and it may remain the Same or May Increase in Future. I would like to know if someone has more information about this.

Yes, manual submission provides more chances for getting listed in quality directories because such directories are moderated by human editors and they normally review each entry to evaluate your website quality and relevancy before approval.

Well, Directory submissions is the easiest way to gain a number of backlinks which are always helpful and necessary in terms of search engine optimization of the website.

Some of the website owners do not get a great benefit from directory submissions as they try to submit links in more than 500 directories in a day and they do not do directory submissions for a month after they have done this.

It is important to make sure that you submit links in limited directories regularly which will give you more benefit.

Default Directory Submissions should do manually

Directory Submissions should do Manually, The reason is submitting by an software will not get proper conformation mail. Webmaster of Directory will not submit if you don't submit your website in Proper Category.

So better avoid submitting automatic and do is manually by Fill up forms its easy and fast.

Manual directory submissions has some advantages as you can properly submit the listing in the appropriate directory, submitting manually you submit at most 40-50 directories , it is a good pace for submissions, automatic submissions try to submit in more directories and as a result you can be marked as a Spam

Many webmasters had spammed innocent directories using such automated submitters which has degraded the importance of backlinks from directories
Manual website submission is always better as you know better which is the most suitable category for your website.

Directories listing are Human verified then get listed, so better do not promote by software/tool, hence it has less chance to get listed.

But even nowadays Directories are accepting bad links for their business, but this can be harmful for them as a Good website webmaster/promoter won't submit their sites.

I guess this might be the reason why search engines give less importance to links submitted to such directories.

I had recently read on some of the other forums that, directory submissions is history and search engines no longer give weightage to such links.

Today, general directories are just used for featured advertising. But niche directories are good for building backlinks as niche directories are more focussed on local and regional areas via which you can drive targeted and potential customers.

I use Traffic Bug for all my Search Engine Optimization clients - it slowly submits to 1000+ directory sites (among other things) and is only $20 per month. You shouldn't use a bit of software that submits to hundreds of directories all at once as Google will see the footprint and wont count any of them. They won't penalise your site for this, but they just wont count as highly as if you submit over time, which is what Traffic Bug does.

I've also used a manual service that is very cheap and they are top notch, check out the link below:

Directory Submission Service --- ArticleAware.com

(not an affiliate link)

Hope this helps you. It is better than any automatic service for obvious reasons.

Well here on internet you can find tons of directory submission tools for free, though they are paid ones but if you can crack them its for free right. I have used directory submission tools mentioned below by other users and as some users have stated manual submission is the best form of directory submission, well i agree with what they say. Cause there is hardly any time difference taken in compression to manual and auto submission.

And submitting manually does not only confirm that you have submitted link in the right category with proper options selected but also gives you a sort of satisfaction. Trust me on Search Engine Optimization tools. They are only good if you wanna compare or check your status but for actually promoting your site they are no good. Then let it be brad callen's Search Engine Optimization elite or web ceo or any bookmarking tool or forum submission tool GOD there are so many software's i just dont have time to name them all.

In the end i would say this, no matter how good automated software is launched it will never be able to beat manual submissions.

I thought about using auto submission software but from my basic research I decided to go with the manual submission. It seems like you have a better shot of getting index that way.
So, spend some time and effort OR pay some of the very niche people offering a manual submission service for a small price.
Cheers,
