Do different search engines treat keyword densities differently? What are your opinion does Google is less tolerant of heavy keyword usage than Yahoo or MSN?

There is debate on this issue, in fact most of the expert consider that MSN and Yahoo tolerate heavier keyword densities per page than search engine leader google.

IMO, Yahoo and MSN Search have much higher keyword density tolerance as high as 5% of total words. I think there is a quite difference between the optimum limits for Google and the levels granted in Yahoo and MSN. A webmaster should realize that it is necessary as ensures it well for potential customers and clients.

In fact google relies on "Term Weight" and the other one is "Glasgow Weight" by this google weight a keyword found on your website hosting carries when compared to other website hostings in your niche.

Google has strictest requirements when it comes to keywords density. No more than 2% of a web page's words should be the targeted keywords, anything more than that will be considered spamming. While in case of Yahoo and MSN they have a higher keyword density of around 5% of the total words.
