Default Does SE favor Dedicated IP

My assumption is that a good website hosting with enough traffic that rank well should get more weighs in SERPs ranking to its next level in favor of dedicated IP addresses over shared IP addresses. What is your opinion on this?

I am sure it plays at least a small part in the search engine’s algorithms. It’s been said that about 3 percent of all Web website hostings have dedicated IPs, with the other 97 percent resting on shared IPs. Research was then conducted analyzing the top 50 results for certain queries in the various search engines. The research found that 90 percent of the top-50 results were using dedicated IP numbers. There are few cases where switching from a virtual IP to a dedicated IP number alone has caused an increase in rankings.

I don't think having your website hosting on a dedicated IP addresses would make a huge difference in the website hosting's SERPs. It is also believed that sharing an IP address with known spam or adult website hostings raises a warning flag with search engines, which results in ban of the entire IP address from their index.

Majority of website hostings on the Web are hosted on shared IP addresses, furthermore SEs are capable enough to ban anything on the basis of illegal techniques adopted by the website hosting owner instead of banning an entire IP neighborhood.

Dedicated IP has nothing to do with Search Engine Rankings. All that makes a difference is location of your IP and nothing else. If IP of your server is from UK then your rankings will boost in google.co.uk but nothing else.

We have many customers with very good position in google and they have their website hosting hosted on a shared IP.

I have got to agree that I doubt there is any difference between dedicated / shared IP.

The only difference is that on a dedicated IP if you behave you don't have to worry about anything else. With a shared IP anyone on the same shared IP can cause problems for each other. So the only thing it does is make it more likely a shared IP will have problems with one member therefore more likely to be penalised by a search engine.

There have been innumerable posts about dedicated ip addresses being beneficial in terms of Search Engine Optimization but there are plenty of good and well ranking website hostings on shared IPs. Too many factors are taken into consideration in determining a site's position in SEs and the location of your IP, as mentioned above is one of them.

Your website hosting needs to be hosted in the country you want it to rank well.

Yeah with shared IP the recurring problem can also be from website hostings which are sharing and over loading that server for which other website hostings have to suffer resulting in slow loading of their pages.

It's an open secret that Google or any other SE for that matter is normally interested in the URLs and not the IP addresses. The SE bots are fond of the domain names and not the IPs. Apart from the location of the IP address there isn't much about the IPs that has gained importance in terms of SERPs.
IMO if dedicated IPs were given more importance in SERPs then 90% of the website hostings all across the globe would have switched to dedicated IP address rather than being on shared IP.
