Google Dance has started!
Is Google dancing now? Or, is it just a routine month-end task. Some changes in Page Ranking noticed.
Google Dance = Google updating its index.

Google are always updating their index - they don't all do it as a batch job periodically.

Wiki:
Google dance
Google dance refers to the period of time when Google indices are tuned. This will often cause both a fluctuation in index size as well a significant change in a web site's search result position.
---------------------------
Now, presently the Google-dance-tool is not showing any fluctuations in the Search Engine Results, but the Page Ranking has been definitely affected at this moment.
Please keep a watch on your Page Ranking and notice that some of the previously ranked pages are definitely showing up/down changes. It was not seen the whole month, but at the end of the month Google does do a minor - if not major - indexing of its caches of different Google search engines, e.g. caches of Google.de, Google.com, Google.co.uk, etc

Definition of Wiki:
A website hosting or similar online resource which "allows users" to add and edit content collectively - often inaccurately.

Well!
Well, read what Matt Cutts, the most famous Google engineer has to say on Google Dance:
~Quote:
Index update: When new indexing data is pushed out to data centers. From the summer of 2000 to the summer of 2003, index updates tended to happen about once a month. The resulting changes were called the Google Dance. T he Google Dance occurred over the course of 6-8 days because each data center in turn had to be taken out of rotation and loaded with an entirely new web index, and that took time. In the summer of 2003 (the Google Dance called “Update Fritz”), Google switched to an index that was incrementally updated every day (or faster). Instead of a monolithic monthly event, the Google would refresh some of its index pretty much every day, which generated much smaller day-to-day changes that some people called everflux.
Over the years, Google’s indexing has been streamlined, to the point where most regular people don’t even notice the index updating. As a result, the terms “everflux,” “Google Dance,” and “index update” are hardly ever used anymore (or they’re used incorrectly ). Instead, most SEOs talk about algorithm updates or data updates/refreshes. Most data refreshes are index updates, although occasionally a data refresh will happen outside of the day-to-day index updates. For example, updated backlinks and PageRanks are made visible every 3-4 months.
~unquote.
With many thanks to Matt Cutts. Please refer to this link:

--------------------------------
I, for one, cannot say that Matt Cutts does not know about Google Dance! Of course, he also says that data is also updated on a daily basis.

So, there is definitely a debate over how often Google dances, but this across-the-field Page Ranking changes are happening right now. Again, you'll find a lull for about 28-36 days, and then suddenly there will be a change.
Keep watching many web pages with the right tool (Google Toolbar for example) for Page Ranking changes.
To some, Page Ranking is a great website hosting (webpage actually) assessment tool while others ignore it.

Page Ranking is not interesting anymore, I don't care about the changes, most important is how well you perform in SERPs.

Paul i agree with your statement but the thing is if Page Ranking of your web site hosting is increasing means authenticity of your web site hosting is increasing and that also effect the the search engine ranking. Moreover your web site hosting is highly authenticated, you will get more sales instead of just getting visitors.

The importance of page rank actually depends on the web site hosting since different industries have different website hosting and popularity requirement like for example if you've blogs and write reviews or sponsored posts Page Ranking could be considered important factor, however for few sites like which I am dealing, it may be just remain part of the overall equation and PR has just taken the back seat. My priority would be remain focused on valuable content to build trust and linked with authority sites instead of chasing pagerank. Still you will find many lower PR sites appear on high for popular search terms and getting more sales conversion.

Don't forget a very key point - Page Ranking is important to one entity only - Google .
Can't say that I have noticed any changes in my Page Ranking recently but I will keep checking back - last time both my website hosting Page Ranking went down by 1 .

page rank is pretty much dead in terms of serps.. it has very little effect on your placings now, and is more handy for reflecting good navigation !!
Regarding the google dance, forget about it.. be content that google will reindex every few days, and any changes in your placings will be reflected at the same time. If you want to see the last time it was reindexed just check your cache.

Yep, it is more important how the website hosting perform on the SERP's, consider doing routine Search Engine Optimization and implement the changes to get good results.

And I just noticed your comment Tom after rereading the thread - Touché lol - that was a quick comeback - and very effective!
