Google Loses $13 Billion
google.blognewschannel.com/archives/2007/07/19/google-stock-slammed-in-after-hours-trading/
Jeffrey Lindsay, analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein, says Google is blowing it on expenses, spending too damn much money. “These guys have been spending like drunken sailors.”

Don't feel sorry for them - after all they are getting products and services for the money they are spending!!
I lose money every day of the year - travel expenses, housing costs so feel sorry for me because I have a lot less funds than Google
$13 billion is pocket change to Google!!

Yeah, what David said is acceptable. $13 billion is a considerable amount for Google. But Jeffrey Lindsay mentioned his analysis in the article Paul gave us for people like us, for whom $13 billion is worth Billions
It's all about big business dudes! You have to let go small things/losses to gain bigger profits, what say?

It might not necessarily be nothing to Google but my point was me losing a penny would have the same effect as Google losing a £50 note
And its not like Google arn't going to make billions more this year to burn

Your right, and seen as though YouTube was lightyears ahead of them they ended up getting eaten by the GoogleMachine!!
Reminds me a bit of Microsoft. They get hammered in the press for security issues so they go and buy countless small successful antispyware / virus / system security software companies for rediculously high prices and think everything is fine then.
Anybody remember Giant Antispyware which became Windows Antispyware and then later Windows Defender - that is all mainly based on the code of the Giant Software comapany who were a small few man operation in the United States!
Amazing how a few people in a small company can do better than Microsoft have managed to do when Microsoft had a lot more money, a lot more space, a lot more staff and a lot more resources at their disposal!!

MS have enough money but when they will make their software bug free and stop pushing rubbish on people? When they will bring a quality product and support innovation?
This remind me a joke one of the folk posted in a forum;
Many years in the future, Linus Torvalds, Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates were brought to heaven and allowed to ask God one question each, to which he promised He would answer truthfully and completely.
Linus walks up to God and asks Him, "When will Linux be completely secure and bug-free?" God sits and ponders for a moment. After a few minutes He replies, "Linux will be completely secure and bug-free in about 10 years." When he hears this, Linus becomes disheartened. "I may not live to see that day," he says.
Steve runs up to God and asks Him, "When will Mac OS be completely secure and bug-free?" God sits and ponders for a moment. After a few minutes He replies, "Mac OS will be completely secure and bug-free in about 20 years." When he hears this, Steve becomes very depressed. "I may not live to see that day," he says.
Bill walks up to God and asks Him, "When will Windows be completely secure and bug-free?" God sits and ponders for a moment. After a long time God still is pondering, and Gates asks him again, "When will Windows be completely secure and bug-free?" Time passes and soon God replies, "I may not live to see that day."

That was a great joke paul. Microsoft have lost what they once had and are more interested in convoluted WGA software and anti piracy features than actually making a product that works. Vista is a prime example of this. I've paid my money and still I get a product that doesn't function - do MS really wonder why people won't pay 100's for this pile of rubbish!!

I agree, IMO, Linux/opensource software could have beaten MS but one of the major think the open source is missing that it did not focus on features...my beared is turning grey, I don't know whether I will see the opensource would eliminate the Microsoft in future.

Probably not unfortunately due to the fact that money can get a poor product to do quite well and trick many people and also allows you to buy anything that becomes competition .
