The problem is some webmaster just don't get the idea behind linking and will only do it if the link is on a prominent part of the website hosting and get traffic from the exchange, I don't give a fanny where the link is so long as the page has least some Page Ranking and it's not got 100's of links on it. So those webmasters all you can do is to try and educate them why it's a good idea to link and not expect traffic from the exchange

There's no quick fix in building links, after all you want to make sure that the website hosting your linking to has some Page Ranking so that means you will need to look at it. You will also want to make sure the website hosting you exchange links with is on the same theme, meaning if your website hosting is about widgets then find an exchange with another website hosting about widgets.

One way I build links, search on your favourite SE (Google) then click on some of the website hostings find one what has a good Page Ranking, maybe 4 or higher then using the toolbar check the backward links to that website hosting, that will give you a load of website hostings that have linked back to the website hosting so in theory should link back to you, if you ask nicely this will then lead you onto loads more

One point with requesting links work on a good email don't **** up to much and don't say anything about how much traffic your website hosting gets or your doing this to increase Page Ranking my own personal feeling on PR nowadays is that its not as important as it used to be........ but it sure is nice to see some green on the ol toolbar.

Hope that helps

Google Pagerank is determined by the quality of incoming links to a website hosting. You need to make sure that you link to a high Page Ranking, relevant website hosting to ensure maximum Page Ranking benefit from linking. Directory submissions are an easy way of getting one way links to a website hosting. Yahoo and DMOZ are the probably the most popular and most important directories to submit a new website hosting.

Any links back to your website hosting will be a backlink. So if you search a lot of website hostings and check their backlinks you will find it is largely forum post backlinks.

I have been trying to improve my pagerank for the last two months, I have been trying out a service from IndexGuy, and all the other tricks of submitting to directories, exchanging where I can. And my predicting page rank from 0 is predicted between 3 - 4. Try IndexGuy, it's a rotating link exchange service

I think Ryan has added some of the good points, I too agree its good to look for quality backlinks, IMO, if you do link exchange give them something a little extra adding value through good content to make their link appealing and that should not look spammy.

The higher the Page Ranking of a backlink the more impact it will have on your SERPs - ultimately the number of backlinks will increase your pagerank! Quality does have a very small part to play in your determined pagerank, but ultimately it does come down the quantity. Head over to directory critic or info.vilesilencer.com and take a look at the free directory lists on offer. If you submit to all those free ones you could quite easily achieve a PR4 or higher. You just need to put the time in

Yes you can submit to directories of high Page Ranking. You have other options too like one-way linking, reciprocal linking, three-way linking, and paid directory submission strategies. This could be time consuming and demanding on your part but worth it if you focus on getting quality back links.

I have tried many ways to impove ranking and search engine position. Using the free directories does not harm you and can help boost popularity and traffic a bit.

But the best way is to make people want to link to your website hosting through creating a good quality website hosting with lots of original content.

You can always "cheat" and pay to get listed in certain prominent places on high Page Ranking website hostings which can help your traffic.

Hope that helps .

It is also important to consider the "value of a link" toward your website hosting, for instance if a page ranks highly for specific term or phrase you're targeting, the link you will get from that page is going to help you lot for top placement.

That is also another good point to consider. Undoubtebly the best way to get good quality back links is to ensure your website hosting survives!

To let your website hosting survive with quality backlinks you need to plan a reasonable strategy like optimizing specific keywords and updating your website hosting with fresh interesting data which is generally called unique/quality content.

Yes, those two are also very good points! Also, you need to get your website hosting "out there" and known otherwise even if you have unique content its no good unless someone can find it!!

To get someone find you, you need to check your content should have the "fidelity" and " intelligent findability" component and obviously you're going to implement many thing to market your website hosting to find readers/visitors/customers like Search Engine Optimization/SMO and implementing other possible marketing method, not just sitting idle to wait for someone to find you.

Oh yes I understand that - but it is easier said than done regarding Search Engine Optimization/SMO .
