Matt Cutt's blog has been hacked!

While checking matt cutt's blog I found it is hacked, the hacker mentioned in the bottom, " In black Search Engine Optimization's we trust!!!" mattcutts.com/blog/

This has been the case with many website hostings all over the world. Injecting website hostings and replacing its index page has become really easy for kids all over the world. Thats why we are so much focussed on security of our servers and check yourself if anyone has complained anything similar in last 6 months on this forum.

I suppose it was rather amusing, although the problem is a very real one for people all over the world. I see that eUKhost value security highly, and seem to do a great job in enforcing it. I believe that I may be purchasing an account here soon, considering the excellent attitudes of the staff.

My guestbook was REALLY hacked a few months back. Not a good experience! But I noticed this quickly and rectified the situation, although I had lost all the entries in my guestbook.

I was wondering how long it would take! Surprisingly this is the first time I have experienced hacking (been hacked) in years of running website hostings.

Our server security policies completely changed after November 2006 so I am quite sure you never had any problems after that. Earlier we use to roll back security rules as we use to get many chats and tickets from customers getting on top of us for problems with scripts like joomla, mambo, php-nuke and others but this time our CTO had decided and he never rolled back his settings. Finally within a week everything got settled so now we are happy to have tough rules on all our servers.

I am glad to hear it. I just put it down to a one-off bad experience. Nothings perfect!

I can't remember exactly when it was however I have been able to find a page which seems to list the "accomplishment" of the hacker that did this called 1923Turk.

Overall I rate security very high and I have only had this one bad experience!

I was just wondering whether anyone at eukhost managed to identify the cause of the hacking incident above? Whether it was a breach of security of the server or my website hosting in particular and how they did it?

The guestbook has since been replaced and there have been no incidences since (fingers crossed!).

new rules were added in mod_security on all our Linux - cPanel servers in Nov - Dec last year. Recently webbased and ftp based injections have become a major problem for web hosting companies and we are updating security rules every week to overcome challenges created by this kids of hacking - cracking world.

This injections are not server wide but individual website hostings are getting targeted so we are adding security rules to prevent any kind of php injection.
