Are the paid Search Engine Optimization optimization programs worth it?
It seems to me that if you can optimize faster, it would be better. But, is it?

This is some what like the story of Hair and Tortoise

Organic Search Engine Optimization is a slow process. The only way to make it fast is by using some black hat techniques which are used by paid Search Engine Optimization service providers. It shows results immediately but once caught by search engine, your site goes down in search results or may be blacklisted and banned by search engines.

Regards,

Seems like Search Engine Optimization is the main business when we have our own website. I've read that new and helpful information in the website will help with the Search Engine Optimization. How often do we need to update our website if this is helpful in making our website known?

Think of quality not quantity.!!

Search Engines do indeed reward websites that are updated frequently. And we agree. But, it is also important to have a solid update strategy to which search engines would approve (or risk may be penalized later).

For updating part, it actually depends on your business, your current performance and your business objectives. So, I feel there is no quick answer to how often you should update your website. In some cases for some, daily or weekly updates are needed for others it might be monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or even annually as well.
According to me search engines like rich (quality) content. Making updates for the sake is not advisable.

eUKhost's opinion would be to consult with your web developer to discuss whether updates could be beneficial to your website or no.

Regards,

I concur to what you just explained Austin. Quality is always better than quantity.

I would veer off a bit about the main topic but it still has to do with Search Engine Optimization. How can I make sure that the information I post will be credited to me? On several occasions, I found articles that are copy-pasted from another website. There were a few times that those which copied the article ranked higher than the website where it originated.

"I found articles that are copy-pasted from another website."

The correct term for that action should be piggy-backing. It is deplorable to say the least. There should be safeguards in place to keep that from happening.
