All you need to do is activate those plugins from admin panel of your blog. You will see changes in your posts once you activate those plugins.

When you install 'All in one Search Engine Optimization Pack' plugin on your blog, you get the ability to rewrite page titles and override the meta tags on a post-by-post basis to make them search engine-friendly.

if you're on 2.7.1 you can leave the defaults as it should work out of the box

Additional Post Headers, Page headers and home headers.
Hi!

As you must be knowing this:
Any blog will have Pages, Posts, and a HomePage.

So, in the "All In One Search Engine Optimization Pack" Plugin,

  • if you insert a text-phrase in the Additional Page Headers, for example, "This is a Page Header", then this text will appear on all your Pages.
  • Similarly, if you insert a text-phrase in the Additional Post Headers, for example, "This is a Post Header", then this text will appear on all your Posts.
  • And, if you insert a text-phrase in the Additional Home Headers, for example, "This is a Home Header", then this text will appear on your Home Page (only).
These texts will appear on the extreme top-left of your pages/posts/homepage as their respective header-texts.

This strategy can be an extra step for on-page Search Engine Optimization if you put your best keyword-phrase (of your entire website's theme) there.

Try doing it!

Thanks for the help, sb123. Yes, i am in 2.7.1 and have added the additional headers fields. But when i bookmark those pages instead of the Main Post title and description it shows me the additional headers details on the submit page of social bookmark sites. Why is it so?

Have you searched through the All In One Search Engine Optimization Pack plugin developer's forum?
Go to the WordPress dot org plugin directory, and you will find a link to the forum on the plugin's page.

Once you installed the "All in One Search Engine Optimization Pack" plugin make sure to set the behavior for the title, keywords and description, category, post, pages, search, tags and archive separately to fine-tune everything.

Do not forget to add Google XML Sitemaps. This would enhance the crawlability of your website.

You can install Automatic Search Engine Optimization plugin which will allow you to create internal and external linking for a Keyword and set anchor text for it. Also, the best benefit is the fact that it will do this automatically for the first occurrence of the keyword you have specified.

Hope this helps..

I personally not in favor of using any automatic plugins when it comes to Search Engine Optimization, similar to the available automated tools available for directory submission.

I am curious if someone has used the tool mentioned by Catherine,if yes then whats your experience with it?

^ The automatic plugins generate descriptions based on the values you provide hence I think it is still useful depending on how well you customize the plugin. I've personally used "All In One Search Engine Optimization Pack" and found its works nicely.

Well, I haven't used the plugin mentioned, however, I have heard good reviews about the plugin. Also, there is no harm in trying this plugin as it will be possible for you to install it from official website of Wordpress and you can also deactivate it if you do not find it useful.

Hope this helps..
